Developing safer alternatives to harmful PFAS filters and seeking new enzymes for medical applications. Two projects with Leiden researchers have been awarded funding through the Dutch Research Council's (NWO) Open Technology programme.

As a PhD student, I search for novel plastic degrading enzymes and optimize Pseudomonas putida as an optimal cell factory for these enzymes.

Marcellus Ubbink
Marcellus Ubbink studies the relation between evolution, structure, dynamics and function of enzymes, with a particular interest in beta-lactamases. He uses a range of biophysical techniques for this purpose.
