This dissertation focuses on questions about the purposes of education and what it means to be educated. These questions are relevant across time, as the answers to these questions are always to some extent related to contemporary society.

The programme group Parenting, Child Care and Development carries out general courses within the field of Education and Child Studies and specialised courses within the field of Child and Family Science.

Open online education has become a highly popular method of education. The current project aims to further our knowledge of how open online courses can be best designed to be consistent with human learning mechanics and facilitate meaningful learning.
