Kunsthistorica, schrijfster en Leids alumna Gerdien Verschoor (1963) volgde een opmerkelijk pad voordat zij in 2019 directeur werd van Herinneringscentrum Kamp Westerbork. De vrouw met diep bewustzijn van historische plaatsen ziet er toeval in, maar de puzzelstukken vallen wel goed op hun plek.
