Met ingang van 1 juni heeft de Universiteit Leiden Sense Jan van der Molen benoemd tot hoogleraar Fysica van de Gecondenseerde Materie. Hij onderzoekt de unieke elektronische eigenschappen die ontstaan als je atomair dunne laagjes op elkaar stapelt tot nieuwe materialen.

Sense Jan van der Molen is vanaf 1 maart de nieuwe wetenschappelijk directeur van het Leiden Instituut voor Onderzoek in de Natuurkunde.
