Eind oktober bestaan de Verenigde Naties (VN) 75 jaar. Het is dus geen jeugdige organisatie meer. Echter vinden Alanna O’Malley en Joris Larik dat het 75 jarig bestaan geen reden is om nu achterover te leunen. De VN moet zich juist blijven vernieuwen.

Met optimale combinaties van antibiotica kun je bacteriën beter bestrijden en tegelijk voorkomen dat ze snel resistent worden. Wetenschappers uit vijf Europese landen gaan zulke combinaties vaststellen en anderen helpen dat te doen. De Leidse hoogleraar Coen van Hasselt coördineert het project.
