Wednesday from 18:00-20:00 h
- Marina Raat
A theater course for international students and expats.
For those who would like to enjoy the stage and find their authenticity as an actor.
In this course you will learn to stand on stage with full conviction. You will act in improvisation exercises, using a combination of fun, spontaneity and technical skills. In ten weeks time you will discover how to play scenes in which body and text come together in a natural way. This results in the audience being fascinated and moved. The course is also about discovering your personal style as a physical actor and experiencing how this individual style enhances group improvisations on stage. Theatre elements that will be highlighted are listening to your physical impulses, using space theatrically, acting fluently together and making action/reaction/internalization part of your play.
Marina Raat is a certified first-degree Drama Teacher. She obtained her degree at the University of the Arts (HKU) in Utrecht, the Netherlands. She specialized herself in Physical Acting and Improvisation by studying at the California State University in Los Angeles and at de Kleine Academie in Brussels (pedagogy Lecoq). She has been working as an independent theatre teacher for various art and educational institutions ever since. Among others she has created her own physical acting workshops for actors, she worked as a drama teacher at different high schools, she taught upcoming teachers at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences as a drama-trainer, was as mentor at the Maastricht Theater Academy Master Program and directed theatre productions played for and by teenagers with special needs.
