Download the Leiden University app
When is it visible in the app?
New students
Your student card will appear in the app within 3 days of the finalisation of your student registration, but not earlier than 2 months before the start of your study programme. Once your student registration has been finalised, you will receive notification via uSis.
Is your card not visible in the app 3 days after the finalisation of your student registration and will your studies start in less than 2 months? If so, contact the ISSC helpdesk.
Re-registering students
The Leiden University app only shows your student card for the current academic year. If you re-register for the next academic year, your new student card will only become visible in the app on 1 September.
Do you need proof of re-registration before 1 September? Follow the instructions in this FAQ.
Not valid ID for exams
You cannot use your digital student card as ID when taking exams. Instead, you must show your LU-Card, accompanied by a valid ID document such as your passport or EU ID card.
Always up to date
The digital student card is connected to the student administration system in real-time. That means it is easy to check the validity of the card as it always shows current data.
No student card number
The digital student card does not have a ‘student card number’. If you need to provide a student card number, for example when ordering text books, you can instead give your student number (from uSis).
