Trustee Funds (Curatorenfondsen)

Trustee funds are intended to contribute towards the study costs of students who are going abroad for a study-related activity but are unable to fund the activity without additional financial support.

For who

Students who wish to undertake an activity abroad that is related to their Leiden University study programme, but are unable to fund the activity without additional financial support. 

Eligibility requirements

All students of Leiden University are eligible to submit a request. 

Scholarship amount

  • The scholarship consists of a one-off contribution towards the cost of your study-related activity abroad.
  • For a trip of 10 months or longer, the maximum amount that can be awarded is 600 euro.
  • Students may apply for funding for more than one trip, however the maximum amount that can be awarded for all trips is 700 euro in total. 

Application process

Submit your request via this online application form, making sure to upload the following documents: 

  1. Letter of motivation
    Describe yourself, your reasons for wanting to go abroad, how your studies abroad will fit into your curriculum and your financial situation. 
     
  2. Budget
    Prepare a budget using the template that can be downloaded via the online application form. 
     
  3. Curriculum vitae
    Also known as a resume.
     
  4. Letter of recommendation
    For example, written by a study adviser or lecturer. 
     
  5. Statement from DUO (if applicable)
    If you receive a supplementary grant from DUO, upload documentary proof. An example of documentary proof is provided in the online application form.
