Course and exam enrolment

Take a look under your faculty or study programme tab for further information. If you have any questions, please contact your education administration office.

Compulsory registration for lectures, exams, and tutorials

All Humanities students are required to register for all lectures, tutorials, and exams. You can do this via MyStudymap. This applies to both the compulsory components as well as the study activities that you choose to complete as part of the elective programme (minor). The only exceptions to this rule are the final bachelor’s paper and the master’s thesis; you do not need to register for these.

For more information, see this page.

Please note: that first-year, full-time bachelor’s students are usually registered by their department for courses starting in September. However, these students too should check-in time whether they have been registered. For the lectures that start in February, they will need to register for courses themselves.

Planning your studies

Before the registration period opens, you can plan your studies for the coming semester in MyStudymap. Here, you can register for all courses at the same time once registration opens.

  • Semester 2: You can plan the second semester in MyStudymap from 1 p.m. on 6 December. This applies both to bachelor’s and master’s students.

For more information on the difference between planning and registering, see this page

Registering for lectures, tutorials, and exams

Make sure you register in time for lectures, tutorials, and exams via MyStudymap. Some tutorials have a limited number of spaces and can fill up quickly. If you are not registered for a course, you will not be allowed to sit the final exams for that course. When you register for an exam, you are ‘pre-registered’. You must confirm your participation in an exam in the student portal between thirty and ten days before the date of the exam. You will receive a notification about this. If you do not confirm your participation in time, you will not be able to sit the exam.

  • Semester 2: You can register for second-semester lectures, tutorials, and exams from 3 p.m. on 15 December (bachelor’s programmes) or 3 p.m. on 16 December (master’s programmes) until 14 days before the start of the teaching.

After that, it is no longer possible to register yourself through MyStudymap. If you are late registering for lectures and tutorials, you should contact the education administration office. You will need the lecturer’s permission for this. For core-curriculum courses, contact the Humanities Student Information Desk..

When registering for courses and exams in MyStudymap in the second semester of the 2021-2022 academic year, a number of important points must be taken into account. Make sure you have read this information before you register.

Registering for essays and written assignments

The registration process for essays for the final assignment is the same as for exams. You do not need to register for interim assignments.

Registration for lectures, tutorials and tests is obligatory

See the Humanities tab for the full registration procedure.

More information can be found in the Course and Examination Regulations BA International Studies.

If you have any difficulty in registering through uSis, please contact the International Studies Student Information Desk immediately.

All students in the Faculty of Humanities must register for courses for which they are awarded an official mark via the study administration system uSis. Failing to do so will result in your grades not being processed. Furthermore, uSis allows you to consult your personal timetable, track your study progress, and request an overview of your grades.

Use uSis to register for lectures, tutorials, tests, papers, essays and presentations in time. For more information see the registration procedure.

Working with uSis

Several sources are available that help you use uSis:

Problems with uSis?

If you have questions or remarks, you can contact the Student Information Desk of the BA International Studies:

  • You can find the Student Information Desk on the second floor of the Wijnhaven building in The Hague. Opening hours: Mondays - Fridays, 09.30 - 12.30 hrs.

Registering for lectures and tutorials

For lectures and tutorials you must also register in time through uSis. Some tutorials have a limited intake and may be full very quickly. If you are not registered for a course, you will not be allowed to sit the final exams for that course.

  • Semester 1: You can register for a lecture or tutorial from July 15 prior to the first meeting until Friday of the second week of class.
  • Semester 2: You can register for a 2nd-semester lecture or tutorial from December 3 prior to the first meeting until Friday of the second week of class.

After that it is no longer possible to register yourself through uSis. If you are late for registration for lectures and tutorials, then you will need the lecturer's permission to register through the student administration for lectures, through the study coordinator for tutorials, and through the Student Information Desk for core-curriculum courses.
