Leiden University uses the Brightspace online learning environment.
New log-in procedures university systems
When logging into many university systems, you will now be directed to the Microsoft log-in screen. Here you must enter: a lower case letter s, followed by your student number + @vuw.leidenuniv.nl. So, for example: s123456@vuw.leidenuniv.nl

Log in
You can log into Brightspace using your student account (ULCN). Please note: if you have only just received your student account, you may have to wait 24 hours before you can log in.

Email notifications
You might receive a lot of email notifications from Brightspace, which can feel overwhelming. These notifications are meant to keep you updated so you don't miss important course information. But it is possible to change your preferences if you want to receive less emails.
Change your email preferences
- Go to the small navigation bar, then click on your name on the top right of the screen.
- A menu will open. Click on notifications.
- Adapt the notifications to your preference:
- To which email address do you want notifications to be sent.
- For which activities do you want to receive notifications.
- Whether you want to receive a summary of all email notifications.
- At the bottom of the page you will find exclude some courses. Here you can select any courses for which you do not want to receive notifications.
