The Programme Board has consulted the Board of Examiners, the Education Committee, lecturers and tutors and decided on a number of ground rules for the exams. The precise organization of the exam will be communicated to you by the lecturers and tutors of the various courses. Please keep an eye on messages from the lecturers and/or tutors on Blackboard.  

The Language courses have different assessment methods depending on the languages. The ground rule for language assessment are: all exams should be done online.  

• All assessment for the remainder of the semester will be online, this includes the resit; 

• If necessary, the lecturer can change the weight of the various course components, taking into account the current remote teaching situation 

• Some course components (e.g. the speaking part) may be hard to assess. For such components a pass or a fail can be awarded, instead of a grade. 

The ground rules for all Core and Area courses are: 

• All assessment for the remainder of the semester will be online, this includes the resit; 

• Since the midterms were cancelled, the final exam will also include material that would normally have been part of the midterm; 

• This means that the weight of the final exam will consist of the weight of the midterm (30%) and final (40%), hence 70% for those courses that would have had a midterm. The weight of the exam for courses without a midterm (Politics and Philosophy of Science) will remain 70%; 

• We would like to give all students the possibility of preparing well for their exams, therefore we have decided to spread out the exams over a timespan of two week (25 May – 5 June); 

• All exams will be ‘take home’ exams, which will have to be handed in 24 hours after they are published online. This way we make sure students in different time zones can participate on an equal basis; 

• The exams will be handed in through Turnitin;  

• Unless otherwise indicated, the exams are to be made individually, without consulting peers or others. We expect our students to be able to take this responsibility. If fraud is detected, we will respond to it as we would do under normal circumstances;
