No exchange programmes first semester academic year 2020 – 2021
Educational exchange programmes within and outside Europe will not go ahead in the first semester. This applies to both Leiden students who want to study abroad (outbound students) and international exchange students who want to study here (incoming students).
The Executive Board has taken this decision as much uncertainty will remain in the coming months concerning the health situation, travel advice and whether education will be offered online or face to face at universities in the Netherlands and abroad. We realise that this is extremely disappointing. Depending on how the corona situation develops, we anticipate that exchange will be possible in the second semester.
Exchange programmes cancelled, more places on minors available
The university will contact all outbound exchange students to look into alternatives. One option for bachelor’s students is to follow a minor. Capacity on Leiden University minors has been increased to 702 places. If you are currently on the waiting list and can be offered a place, you will be notified by 29 May at the latest. If you have not yet applied for a minor, take a look at the minors on offer. The application deadline is 15 July.
Internship, fieldwork or other activity abroad
Are you planning to go abroad for another activity such as an internship, fieldwork, research project, medical clerkship or compulsory study abroad element? If so, the information above does not apply to you. Contact your faculty’s international exchange coordinator to discuss the options available to you.
If you have any question, please contact your faculty’s international exchange coordinator.
