LeidenGlobal Lecture Series for PhD & Research Master’s students

13 August 2021

This lecture series is offered to PhD and Research MA students at the LeidenGlobal partner institutions in the fall of each year, from mid September to mid November, on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 17.15 - 18:45 hrs (at Lipsius building room 148). It offers them an opportunity to reflect on the foundations of the broader field of the Social Sciences and the Humanities, and to position their own research accordingly. Students ideally take it early in their training. Its scope stimulates transregional and transdisciplinary dialogue, in line with international developments in scholarship.

This course is interdisciplinary in nature and its content will cross disciplines and sub-disciplines in the Social Sciences and the Humanities. Each session a guest lecturer discusses timely issues of ownership, ethics and power relations in theory and research. Each speaker will draw from a variety of fields and disciplines that are relevant to her/his research. Coherence is ensured by the overarching themes we ask each of the lecturers to address – themes that will then be discussed extensively in class by the course coordinator.

Details regarding the course:

  • EC: 0 (PhD candidates can receive EC in consultation with their supervisor)
  • Language: English
  • Instructors: Dr. Elena Burgos Martinez and Prof. Pieter ter Keurs
