No exchange programmes in second semester of academic year 2020 – 2021
All educational exchange programmes within and outside Europe have been cancelled for the second semester too. This applies to both Leiden students who want to study abroad (outbound students) and international exchange students who want to study here (incoming students).
The Executive Board has taken this decision as the uncertainty surrounding the health situation, travel advice and capacity constraints at universities in the Netherlands and abroad is likely to continue over the coming months. We realise that this is extremely disappointing.
Exchange programmes cancelled
The University will contact all outbound exchange students to seek alternatives. It is currently exploring options to increase the number of electives or possibilities for a minor.
Internship, fieldwork or other activities abroad
If you are planning to go abroad for another activity such as an internship, fieldwork, research project, medical clerkship or compulsory study abroad element, you may, in exceptional circumstances, receive permission to do so.
In principle, you may only request permission to go to areas classified as yellow or green in the government’s travel advice. An exception may be made for orange areas if the destination in question is your home country. You must also have agreed your plans in advance with your faculty contact person and understand that the trip is at your own risk. See the full details.
If you believe your circumstances are exceptional, use this online form to request permission.
If you have any questions, please contact your faculty’s international exchange coordinator.
