Learn about the influence of Europe at the Europaeum Spring School: application deadline 4 March
Are you interested in learning more about the influence of Europe on major world developments and the cultural, politic and economic impact that Europe has? The Europaeum Spring School which takes places from 22 till 24 April 2021, brings together post-graduate researchers, mainly but by no means exclusively, in Humanities and Social Sciences discussing the wider impact of the world on Europe and of Europe in the world in a historical and contemporary context.
Themes
Issues that will be explored by leading experts include topics such as the COVID crisis, our global state of democracy, ending the Cold War, and the implications of AI. The participants will provide alternative readings of how interdependence in the world has developed over the last century and how that affects the current state of Europe.

We welcome applications from master’s and doctoral students from within the Europaeum network who wish to either just join the discussions or present a paper. Applications should include:
• the Europaeum application form ;
• a brief CV;
• a statement of purpose (up to 500 words);
• a reference letter by their supervisor or academic advisor.

Those who wish to submit a paper should also add a short abstract of the proposed paper (up to 500 words). Papers will be precirculated in advance (deadline for texts will be 8 April) and presentations based on the papers should be 10 minutes long.
The Europaeum
The Europaeum is an association of eighteen of Europe’s leading universities, of which Leiden University has been a member for over 25 years. The Europaeum brings together talented students and faculty working in the Humanities and the Social Sciences, to promote a better ‘sense of Europe’ through collaboration and academic mobility. The Europaeum is coordinated from Oxford University.
