Meet the candidates!
Of these four candidates, three will be voted in to play a role in the decision-making process for many important issues within the Faculty, such as the quality of education, facilities and sustainability.

Daily Put
Dear Faculty of Archaeology,
My name is Daily Put. Most of you might know me from being the treasurer for L.A.S. Terra others might know me from running the Van Steenis podcast. I started my studies out on MBO, went to HBO, and am now a BA2 student. My lengthy educational career showed me a lot of educational institutes and made me form a broader view on education and community. One of my dearest wishes is to keep the communal aspect Van Steenis offered us and preserve it for future generations to come, so they may enjoy it the same way we do. Besides this, I want to make sure that the faculty becomes more sustainable and inclusive towards the near future by focussing more on communication towards and between students and staff. Lastly, I want a personalized curriculum with interchangeable courses between tracks to be the norm instead of the exaptation so everyone can fill out their education the way they want it to be.

Myrthe Sassen
Hi, my name is Myrthe and I am a first year RMA student and current member of the Education Committee, having previously also completed my BA here at the faculty. During my BA I was very involved student affairs through the study organisation L.A.S. Terra, and I was also class representative for two of my classes while on exchange in New Zealand. Aside from being on the EdCom, I am our faculty's representative in the LUS (Leids Universitair Studentenplatform) this year, which works to gather students' opinions on all things studying and university and bring them to the attention of the university board. I also work part-time at the Onderwijsvisie department in our university, improving teaching methods and the learning experience as a whole. I’d love to continue helping to improve our faculty while gaining valuable experience by being part of the Faculty Council next academic year!

Wicher Verhage
Hi you! I am Wicher, second year bachelor student World Archaeology, and I am candidate for the Faculty Council of the Faculty of Archaeology. Over the past year, issues which had always existed became extremely clear. Lack of (clear) communication was the most important issue. I want to improve this the coming year. But I also want to contribute to other things: together with the other members of the Lijst Vooruitstrevende Studenten I want to make a case for a more inclusive study environment with more attention for student well-being. Our faculty could improve in these areas by relaxing mandatory attendance for everyone, and especially for students who may not always be in a position to attend due to physical and mental health issues. In other words, lots of things to be improved upon, and with your vote I can get to work on improving them!
Do you want to know what other themes I want to address the coming year? Have a look at the website of LVS.

Zoë Vogelaar
I’m Zoë Vogelaar, and I’m a student here at the Faculty of Archaeology. I believe that last year has showed us that communication between student and faculty can be bettered. The faculty should be more transparent about its plans and actions. I also believe that the university should make mental and study related support more visible and easier to find. I want students to be able to study here at the faculty and do what they love without having to worry about slow administrative processes or long waiting lists. I hope to get your vote to make this possible!
