Course and exam enrolment academic year 2021-2022 (bachelor)

12 July 2021

Start of enrolment period for second and senior years

As a bachelor's student, you can register for courses of the first semester for the academic year 2021/2022 from 15 July 13:00 hrs. First-year bachelor students do not have to enrol; the education administration department will do this for you.

Closing enrolment period

For lectures, tutorials, practicums, and all other activities of a course, the deadline for registration is 14 calendar days before the start of the education (the day the first activity of the course takes place).

Two ways of registering: uSis and student app

You can enrol for courses in two ways: via uSis or via the student app.

Because it can be very busy in the first hours after the start of the enrolment period, a so-called ticketing system will be used to log into uSis on the afternoon of 15 July 2021. This means that you might not be able to log into uSis immediately. Below we answer some questions about this.

In the student app, the ticketing system will not be used, you can log in directly. However, if the app is used frequently, it can become slow. You can notice this especially by the fact that screen changes can take a long time (up to dozens of seconds).

Ticketing system in uSis on 15 July afternoon

If many students want to enrol simultaneously, uSis can become overloaded. To prevent this, we use a ticketing system. This means that if you try to log into uSis as a student, you will be allocated a ticket with a login time. As soon as it is your turn, you can log in to register.

On 15 July at 12:30 hrs, the ticketing system will be switched on. From that moment on, you will no longer be able to log in directly to uSis. If you have already logged in before, you will be logged out automatically at 12:30 hrs. You will not be able to log in directly after this.

The traffic in uSis is monitored in real time. As soon as the traffic decreases and there is no longer a risk of uSis becoming overloaded, the ticketing system will be switched off. Students will notice this because they can log in directly. The expectation is that the ticketing system will no longer be needed after 17:00 hrs. This may be a little earlier or a little later. Please take this into account. We advise you not to register straight away at 13:00 hrs if it is not strictly necessary.

Login times

The time you log in will affect when you can register:

Time Result
Before 12:30 hrs on 15 July You will be automatically logged out of uSis at 12:30 hrs. You will not be able to log in directly after this.
Between 12:30 hrs and 13:00 hrs on 15 July You are in the so-called pre-queue. As soon as the registration period starts at 13:00 hrs, you will be assigned a random ticket for a login time slot.
After 13:00 hrs on 15 July The ticketing system will assign you a time slot based on time of arrival.

Once it is your turn, you have ten minutes to log in. If you do not use this time or you are late, your place will be released and you will have to go back to the back of the queue.

Ticket times

Once you have received a ticket, you will immediately see how many people are 'waiting' for you and how long it will take before it is your turn. This time is only an indication. The actual waiting time may be a lot shorter because students do not use their ticket and/or because the number of students admitted is increased. If your internet connection is lost and you come back online, you will return to the same spot in the queue, unless it was your turn during the time you were offline and the ten minutes of extra time have also passed.

Email reminder

You can choose to receive a message at your e-mail address just before your turn. You can then do something else and close your browser. You will receive a link via email with which you can log in when it is your turn. You can also use this link on other devices. Please note: you have ten minutes to log in when it is your turn. If you do not log in within ten minutes, your seat will be released. You will then be allocated a new ticket.

Help with questions

If you have any questions about registration, please contact the helpdesk at https://helpdesk.universiteitleiden.nl or your educational administration.

Please note that staff cannot help you log in earlier. The ticketing system is fully automated and everyone gets to log in at their allocated time slot.
