How the National Student Survey contributes to improving the faculty

3 February 2022

Are you satisfied with your study programme at Leiden University? What do you think of your lectures, the professors, student counselling and university facilities? Let us know your opinion by taking the National Student Survey (NSE) You will help us to improve your studies. But also to enable future students in making a good choice of study. Besides all that you also have a chance to win great prizes!

Invitation

On January 21, you will receive an invitation via uMail to complete the NSE. It will only take about 15 minutes of your time. Did you not receive the mail, or can you no longer find it? Visit the website of the National Student Survey, enter your uMail address and complete the survey. Your input is completely anonymous.

Prizes

By taking part you will have the opportunity to win one of the following great prizes:

  • 1x Apple Macbook Air (value €1129,-)
  • 4x Sony Noise Cancelling Headphones (value €380,-)
  • 3x Logitech Master Series mouse and keyboard (value € 218,-)
  • 400x Bol.com voucher (value € 25,-)

On top of that, you will also be supporting first generation students and academics. For every completed questionnaire, the university will donate €0.25 through the Leiden University Fund to LEF, the Leiden Empowerment Fund.

What happens with the outcome?

We value your opinion. The information gathered will be used to make improvements to your study programme and the university in general. For example, the NSE provided a point for improvement to better prepare students for their professional life. That is why the faculty has set up the 'Learning My Way' program with workshops, coaching sessions and speed dates with alumni. Also within the courses there is more attention for work orientation, such as meetings with a broader representation of the professional field, etc. Due to the feedback of the NSE results the faculty is also working on a more coordinated feedback system and more focus on diversity and inclusion.
