New open access initiative by MIT Press now available through Find Databases
As of March 2022, the UBL has invested in the open access book publishing program Direct to Open (D2O) of MIT Press.
MIT Press D2O moves professional and scholarly books from a market-based, purchase model, where individuals and libraries buy single eBooks, to a collaborative, library-supported open access model. The UBL are among 160 libraries and consortia from around the world who have committed to funding the D2O initiative.
The support makes it possible for MIT Press to publish all new scholarly monographs and edited collections (~90 titles per year) open access. In addition, users of participating libraries will receive access to MIT Press’s backlist (~2,300 titles).
