Vacancy: Student assistant AI and the Humanities (4 hours per week)

Are you interested in developing skills in teaching and administration while staying at the forefront of AI advancements?

We are excited to announce an opportunity for a Student Assistant to join our team for the upcoming 'AI and the Humanities' course (see the study guide here), commencing in Semester 2 of this academic year. As a Student Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful delivery of this new course.

Responsibilities

  • Gather exam materials in advance from lecturers and facilitate their availability on the online learning platform.
  • Administer and assist in grading weekly assessments, including tracking student completion.
  • Assist in updating the course website with essential information such as reading lists and additional materials.
  • Help set up and manage the online learning platform, offering support for grading and addressing student inquiries.
  • Be an additional point of contact for student queries and concerns.

Requirements

  • Candidates must be currently enrolled in the second year or higher in a program at Leiden University or another Dutch University.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English (and preferably Dutch) are essential.
  • The ability to work independently to manage responsibilities effectively.
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Interest or experience in AI, digital humanities, or data science (preferred).
  • While previous experience with online learning platforms is advantageous, it is not mandatory.

We offer

  • A temporary appointment from November 2023 to May 2024.
  • The salary is in accordance with the SA scale and, depending on study progress, amounts to a minimum € 2.618 and a maximum of € 2.846 gross per month (for a full-time appointment).
  • The employment contract is for 4 hours per week. Accrued vacation days are taken during the appointment.
