Looking for: research trainee for project on effect gender-inclusive language on language attitudes

The Humanities Research Traineeship Programme 2024 is looking for a new research trainee in the project of Naomi Truan and Benjamin Storme called How gender-inclusive language affect language attitudes? A cross-linguistic experimental study on French and German’.

Research trainee profile

We are looking for an MA or ResMA student with a background in Linguistics and with interest in designing linguistic questionnaires. We will consider applications from third-year BA students in Linguistics, German Studies and French Studies as well. Candidates should be highly proficient in English and at least French or German (C1-C2 level). A passive knowledge of the other language is a plus.

The following criteria are a plus, but no strict prerequisites: 

  • Demonstrable courses or term papers on relevant topics, especially sociolinguistics, gender, language attitudes, and experimental linguistics;
  • Demonstrable familiarity with relevant research methods, such as formulating questions/reading tasks for linguistic questionnaires, collecting data online, conducting statistical analyses in R, and releasing data in open access.  

Please note that applications are only open to students registered for a study programme at the Faculty of Humanities until 31 August 2024.

We are aiming at the earliest possible start date. The contract involves 5,7 working hours per week until 31 August 2024. You will get paid a salary according to the salary scale for student assistants (SA3 for BA3 students, SA$ for MA students).
