Opening hours of buildings and summer schedule

2 June 2025

From 7 July, the Humanities Campus buildings will be permanently closed at weekends. They were already closed on Sundays, but from this summer they will be closed on Saturdays as well. Additionally, a revised summer schedule will apply during the summer period: on weekdays, all campus buildings will have reduced opening hours.

Weekend closing
Closing our buildings at times of low usage makes it possible for us to reduce costs. The Lipsius Building will therefore soon be closed not only on Sundays but also on Saturdays. It will also no longer be possible to use the other campus buildings (Herta Mohr, Arsenaal, Reuvens, Huizinga and PJ Veth) at weekends with a special access pass.

The buildings will naturally be open during conferences and special events that take place at the weekend. The University Library will also still be open at weekends.

Summer schedule
The summer schedule will be in place from 7 July to 30 August. During these weeks, there will be reduced opening hours from Monday to Friday. See this page for the current opening hours.

University cafés and restaurants
The university cafés and restaurants are also operating on a summer schedule. The restaurant in the Lipsius building will be closed from 7 July to 8 September. The Literary Café, also located in the Lipsius building, will remain open throughout the summer, but with adjusted opening hours: from 14 July to 25 August, the café will close daily at 14:30. Café Sud, on the ground floor of the Herta Mohr building, will be closed from 7 July to 25 August. The Café UBé in the University Library will remain open every day during this period.
