Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 June: limited access to university network and libraries closed

12 June 2025

On Saturday 28 June from 06:00 hrs until 17:00 hrs, the university network will be offline, or access will be very limited, for planned maintenance. The university libraries will be closed for the entire weekend! It is possible that the network will also not be available on Sunday 29 June.

This will have the following consequences:

  • During the maintenance work, the university website will (temporarily) be offline.
  • Both at home and at the university, you will not have access to the university network during the work activities.
  • All applications, systems and websites that require you to log in with your ULCN credentials will NOT be available during the maintenance.
  • Wi-Fi connection via eduroam will NOT be possible.
  • You will be able to use Microsoft apps such as Outlook, Word and Teams via portal.office.com.
  • Brightspace will not be available.
  • Are you a researcher? Please note, you may not be able to access your research installations during network maintenance.
  • The university libraries will be closed on Saturday and Sunday.

What are your options? Be prepared

Make sure that you download all information and data in advance that you may need to use during the weekend. Plan your work so that you will not need access to the university network and university libraries on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 June.

Working remotely

The university network will not be available. Office365 and OneDrive will work as normal. MS Teams will also be available, both the app and the web version.

Do you have any questions?

Please contact the ISSC Helpdesk before 28 June via the Helpdesk Portal, via helpdesk@issc.leidenuniv.nl or +31 (0)71 527 8888. Please note: in the weekend of 28 and 29 June the Helpdesk will also not be available.

Why this maintenance?

Parts of the network infrastructure require regular maintenance (twice a year) in order to guarantee that all staff and students can continue to make good and secure use of the university network.
