Show Your Stripes Day
This Saturday, June 21, marks Show Your Stripes Day an annual opportunity to raise awareness about human-driven climate change, its far-reaching impacts, and the actions we can take to build a sustainable future for the people and places we care about.
The climate stripes, also known as warming stripes, were created by Professor Ed Hawkins of the University of Reading. These bold, simple visuals powerfully depict the rise in global temperatures over the past 150+ years and serve as a striking reminder of the urgent need for climate action.
Join Leiden University’s Sustainability Community
At Leiden University, we take our responsibility to address the climate crisis seriously. Through our education, research, and campus operations, we work together to contribute to a more sustainable society. Whether you’re a student, staff member, or researcher, there are many ways to get involved.
Here’s how you can take part:
- Leiden University Green Office (LUGO) is the central hub in Leiden and The Hague where students and staff collaborate to make the university more sustainable.
- Leiden University Sustainability Network: this platform connects students and staff who wants to combine their efforts and support each other in promoting sustainability across the university.
