Group work or a quick catch-up? Find out where to go

7 July 2025

Want to work on an assignment or have a group discussion? There are various spaces across the faculty where you can collaborate. Some rooms need to be booked in advance, others are freely accessible. Here’s how it works:

Studying together? Reserve your room

Need to secure a spot? Simply book a room via Shareddesk. Under the ‘General’ tab, you’ll find the university guidelines for using study spaces.

In the Gorlaeus Building

There are several collaboration spaces available in the Gorlaeus Building:

  • Collaboration rooms in the Science Library – book via Shareddesk
  • Rooms DM.4.26 and DM.4.28 – also bookable via Shareddesk
  • Rooms DM.4.30, DM.3.30 and DM.2.30 – no booking needed, just walk in

In other buildings

There are also group workspaces in other faculty buildings:

  • Huygens – group work areas on the ground floor and first floor, no booking needed
  • Sylvius – most floors have tables where you can work in small groups, no booking required
  • Van Steenis – study spots in room C0.06 and several informal spaces on the ground floor

Just looking for a spot without booking?

Across all buildings, there are plenty of places where you can sit and study without a reservation:

  • Open workspaces in hallways and atriums
  • Table groups in canteens and common areas
  • Quiet zones in the Science Library
