Facilities 

The facilities at University Campus Spui are largely the same as those at Wijnhaven. The building includes lecture halls and seminar rooms, a restaurant, study spots, co-working spaces, examination halls, a sports centre (previously at Beehive), a student common room (on the 6th floor), as well as terraces on the second and sixth floors with views of the city. 

Facilities that remain in Wijnhaven only are the library, IT desk, LU card support centre, quiet room and service desk. Please note that also the study association SPIL and the student association CIROS will be in Wijnhaven. 

All of the teaching, research and support staff for IRO and International Organisation will have their office in the University Campus Spui as well. The Institute of Political Science is located in wing 3A, which is freely accessible to students. Important contacts:

Address & opening hours 

The address of the building is Spui 5, The Hague. The building is a ten-minute walk from Den Haag Centraal station. The tram stop directly in front of the building is called ‘Den Haag Centrum’. The nearest car park is Q-Park Grote Markt; the building itself does not have a car park. The entrance is roughly across the street from Bagels & Beans.  

Opening hours of the building and the bicycle parking: 
Monday to Friday: 07:30 – 23:00 
Saturday: 09:00 – 21:30 
Sunday: 10:30 – 21:30 

Until 18:00, Spui Campus is open to everyone. After 18:00, LU-Card access control applies, and a registration system for evenings and weekends will be introduced soon. 

Accessibility for people with reduced mobility 

The building is wheelchair accessible. An elevator from the central hall on the ground floor (on the right-hand side of the main stairs) takes you directly to the Political Science wing on 3A. 

Bicycle parking 

The bicycle parking is located to the left of the main entrance of the University Campus Spui building. All staff and students have access to the facility, which accommodates 1350 bicycles. Access is granted via your LU Card. The same rules will apply as at other Leiden University buildings: 

• Bikes must be parked in the racks. 

• Bikes may not be left there indefinitely.  

• E-bike charging stations are not available because of fire safety. 

Lay-out and wings of the building 

 The building is divided into three wings: A, B and C. 

• Wing A is located on the Spui side of the building. Here you will find the reception, and on the second floor the UFB Service Desk. 

• Wing B is in the centre of the building on the Grote Markt side, where you will find, among other things, the restaurant. Most teaching rooms are located on the third and fourth floors of this wing. 

• Wing C is located on the Grote Markt side. In this wing the examination halls are on the second floor. The other floors in Wing C are not used by Leiden University; they are occupied by the Spui partners. 

On the signage, you will first see the floor number, then the wing letter, and then the room number. As the building has three wings and is shared with partner organisations (such as Delft University of Technology), it may take a little time at first to find your way around. Please make sure to leave a bit earlier for your first class or appointment so you have extra time to familiarise yourself with the building. 

Cloakroom and lockers 

As in Wijnhaven, there is an unattended cloakroom on the first floor. In addition, each floor has lockers that you can use free of charge. 

Wi-Fi network 

This works exactly as you are used to at all other locations, via the university’s Wi-Fi network Eduroam. You can find more information here.  

Lactation room 

The lactation room is located on the ground floor next to the reception desk. 

Quiet room 

There is currently no quiet room in the University Campus Spui building. You can use the quiet room in Wijnhaven.
