New series of Faculty Talks starts
Theme Zeitgeist
After the success of last year’s 450‑talks, we’re continuing the tradition with a new series now called: Faculty Talks. The concept remains the same, but this year we’ll be exploring a new, inspiring theme: Zeitgeist. What defines the spirit of our time, and how do we – lawyers, criminologists, economists and researchers – relate to it?
‘The Times They Are A-Changing’
Our faculty is home to a broad range of disciplines and expertise. At the Faculty Talks, our scholars share their multidisciplinary knowledge in the form of a vision, statement, or message. The theme Zeitgeist connects current developments with historical movements and encourages critical thinking. Fittingly, each Faculty Talk opens with Bob Dylan’s ‘The Times They Are A‑Changin’.

Ellen Gijselaar - 2 March 16.00 -Entrance hall KOG
Ellen Gijselaar, Assistant Professor in criminal law and criminal procedure, kicks off the new series on Monday 2 March at 16.00 with her talk: 'Femicide: strafrechtelijk afgedaan?' (in Dutch).
Ellen will shed light on the urgent issue of femicide, placing the criminal prosecution of it in a historical and topical context. It is no coincidence that this topic is on the agenda as we approach the UN’s International Women's Day on 8 March.
