New core curriculum course: Humanities in a Digital World
Humanities in a Digital World prepares students for digitalisation in their studies and society
With the core curriculum course Humanities in a Digital World, you gain a solid foundation in digital knowledge and skills that are becoming increasingly important within the humanities and in society. The course addresses three main themes, namely Media, Data (structures) and AI, and consists of eleven lectures. You learn how to critically engage with digital data, tools and sources within your own field of study. The course also explores the legal and ethical aspects of AI in greater depth.
A head start in an increasingly digital world
The course has been developed by experts from all institutes, with input from students, ensuring that it aligns well with your discipline. You work on assignments relevant to your field and develop critical reflection skills. A specialised team of lecturers teaches the course under the coordination of dr Angus Mol, who also delivers the first introductory lecture.
Careful evaluation
Humanities in a Digital World is a 5 EC course at level 100 and will be offered to all bachelor students from the 2026–2027 academic year onwards. A new compulsory course may raise questions. The course will therefore be closely monitored and evaluated during and after its implementation by a committee of students and staff, ensuring that the content remains relevant and adds real value to your studies.
