Photo exhibition 'Meet the Young Carer' in the FSW building
Can you still concentrate properly at school if your father is unable to manage on his own? Is home particularly hectic again because your younger sister isn’t doing well?
Incluzio Leiden, in collaboration with photographer Michael Echteld, has created an impressive photo exhibition portraying the lives of six young carers. They care for a family member with an illness, disability, mental health vulnerability, or addiction. The exhibition will be on display at FSW, in the central hall, until 16 April, after which it will travel onwards.
Their daily lives are captured through powerful images and personal stories. Many of them are not even aware of the role they fulfil. This exhibition offers a glimpse into their world.
For these young people, caring for someone else feels natural and can be rewarding, but it can also be challenging. They may worry a lot or miss out on care for themselves. This exhibition aims to provide recognition and acknowledgement of their important role.
