Broaden your horizons with this international online course about human mobility

17 April 2026

Want to expand your knowledge on borders, securitisation and migration? Join a new online course with students from Chile!

Leiden Law School has developed a Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) module with Universidad Diego Portales (UDP) in Chile. In this module, students from Chile and the Netherlands can explore key debates on securitisation, borders, and human mobility together.

Topics in the module

The COIL links the course ‘Human Realities of Securitization’, taught by UDP academic Constanza Jorquera, with the course ‘Border Criminologies: the Criminalisation of Mobility’, offered by Leiden Law School academic Amalia Campos-Delgado.

You will analyse how border security policies shape political and social identities, as well as current conflicts and debates at local, national and global levels. This will teach you to look critically at issues around citizenship, rights and mobility.

International exchange

The course is online, but is a great opportunity to connect with people from other cultures. Want to learn more about Chile? Following the virtual experience, you can apply for an in-person exchange to UDP for a semester!

You can apply for the course via USIS. Discover about other exchange programmes here.
