Possible public transport (OV) strike on Wednesday 24 June

17 June 2026

On Wednesday 24 June 2026, there may be a public transport strike in the early morning. Public transport staff will be on strike during the night and morning shifts until 08.00. This means that there will be no public transport running in the early morning. More information about the strike is provided on the Netherlands Trade Union Confederation (FNV) website.

Teaching and assessments to go ahead as scheduled

University teaching continues as usual during public transport strikes. This will also be the case on Wednesday 24 June: teaching and assessments will go ahead as scheduled.

For students

If you have compulsory classes that day, then you still need to prioritise attending those classes. We ask that you make every effort to attend and arrange alternative transport where possible.

If, due to the strike, you find yourself unable to attend or arrive on time for a class for which attendance is compulsory, please inform your lecturer of this before the class begins. In such cases, you can refer to the strike or events beyond your control as the reason. The lecturer will respond with appropriate leniency.

However, this does not apply to exams and other forms of assessment. A public transport strike is not a valid reason to be absent from an assessment and does not mean you are entitled to resit an assessment.

Important: Please check Brightspace regularly for updates regarding your exams and courses.

For staff

Provided their duties allow it and in consultation with their manager, staff may work from home on Wednesday 24 June.
