Vacancy FGGA Faculty Member at the Leiden University Student Platform (LUS) (2026–2027)
For the academic year 2026–2027 (1 September 2026 to 31 August 2027), the Faculty of Governance & Global Affairs (FGGA) is looking for a new faculty member for the Leiden University Student Platform (LUS). In this role, you are a visible point of contact for FGGA students and help ensure the student perspective is clearly represented, both within and beyond the LUS.
Omschrijving
The LUS provides independent advice on university-wide policy affecting students and organises meetings to gather input from a broad range of students. More information about the LUS and the LUS Teaching Award can be found here.
As a faculty member, you support the organisation of student meetings on education and student affairs. You help promote these meetings within FGGA and translate the outcomes into insights that the LUS can share with the Executive Board and other relevant bodies.
You are also the faculty’s 'antenna': you stay up to date with what is happening among FGGA students, and you may be asked to attend faculty-level meetings or events where the student perspective is valuable. You will also attend classes as part of the LUS Teaching Award process.
On average, the role requires 1 to 2 hours per week. The workload varies throughout the year: some periods involve more meetings and coordination, while others focus more on writing and gathering input. A suitable compensation is provided.
We are looking for someone who enjoys speaking with students and translating their experiences and signals into concrete points.
You are a good fit if you:
- are a student at the Faculty of Governance & Global Affairs (FGGA);
- are curious about what is happening in education and student affairs;
- find it easy (or would like to learn) to connect with others and actively gather student input, also beyond your own circles;
- take initiative independently and enjoy working with others.
You can apply until the 10th of July by emailing a short motivation to assessor@fgga.leidenuniv.nl. Suitable candidates will be invited for a short online conversation with the current LUS member and the Assessor.
Not sure whether you have a “large enough network”? No problem—this is also a role in which you will build that network.
