Vacancy: Enthusiastic student tutors – BSc Cybersecurity & Cybercrime

18 June 2026

Would you like to contribute to a great start for first-year Bachelor’s students in Cybersecurity & Cybercrime? Do you have ideas on how to help new students feel at home at university, and would you enjoy working together with engaged fellow students? Then we are looking for you!

For the 2026–2027 academic year, we are looking for four enthusiastic student tutors. As a student tutor, you will play an active role in supporting first-year students as they begin their studies. Together with your team, you will organise at least four social and study-related activities and act as a point of contact for first-year students with (practical) questions. You will support students not only socially, but also help facilitate sessions focused on academic skills and study skills.

What will you do?

As a student tutor, you will support a group of approximately 30 students during the first phase of their degree programme. You will attend skills sessions to share your own study experiences, be present at additional self-study sessions, act as a source of support for students, and have a signalling and referral role (including with regard to student wellbeing).

Alongside supporting students with their studies, you will help strengthen social and academic connections and help your group find their way around the university.

Please take into account an average workload of 2 to 4 hours per week.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Being available for training sessions at the end of August, starting from 17 August.
  • Organising at least four official study-related and social contact moments.
  • Providing support during tutorials for first-year skills courses and introductory information courses, where needed.
  • Having successfully completed at least one Computing course and one skills course in the first year, so that you can share your own experiences.
  • Being available from August 2026 until at least January 2027 (Semester 1).

This role is ideal if you are interested in teaching and student support and would like to gain practical experience working with groups of students.

What do you bring?

This position is a great fit if you recognise yourself in the following:

  • You are enrolled as a student on the Bachelor’s in Cybersecurity & Cybercrime and are enthusiastic about your programme.
  • You are helpful and enjoy motivating others. You have a strong sense of responsibility and understand that new students may find themselves in different situations when starting university.
  • You are able to explain things clearly and enjoy helping others learn.
  • You are well organised and enjoy planning activities. You would like to contribute ideas for the student mentoring programme. You know best what new students need, and we would like to make use of that knowledge.
  • You enjoy being part of a team and work well with others.
  • You have sufficient time and flexibility in your schedule for the student tutor role between August and January.
  • You are able to act as a role model and represent the university and your degree programme, including on social media.
  • Experience supporting or mentoring students or pupils is an advantage.

Do you fully recognise yourself in this profile, or do you not meet every requirement but feel this is the right role for you? We would still love to hear from you!

What do we offer?

As a student tutor, you will receive:

  • Fun events and meetings with student tutors and first-year students.
  • The opportunity to make a real impact on the student mentoring programme.
  • A low-threshold introduction to organising activities and taking responsibility for groups.
  • Training in supporting groups and developing teaching skills.
  • A valuable addition to your CV.
  • Meaningful work where you can make a real difference for new students.
  • Professional training to prepare you for your role (attendance is compulsory).
  • Guidance on the topics covered through teaching materials.
  • The opportunity to deepen your knowledge and develop your teaching skills.
  • A friendly group of colleagues and the chance to work with professionals within the programme.
  • A behind-the-scenes look at your degree programme.
  • A paid position as a student assistant through a temporary employment contract via JobMotion.
  • Salary: paid as a student assistant, depending on your year of study.
