Bicycle parking inspection Gorlaeus and Huygens cycle parking

18 August 2026

To keep the cycle parking areas next to the Gorlaeus Building and underneath the Huygens pleasant, safe and well organised for everyone, we will resume cycle parking checks from Thursday 20 August. We have noticed that more and more bicycles are being left there for extended periods, causing the cycle parking areas to fill up more quickly.

What does this involve?

In the early morning, bicycles that appear to be unused will be tagged. If you find a tag on your bicycle, you can simply remove it if you are still using your bike.

If your bicycle still has a tag on it on 21 September and is parked in one of the cycle parking areas, we will consider it an abandoned bicycle and remove it. The bicycles will then be stored.

Collecting removed bicycles

Removed bicycles will be kept in storage for at least one year. If you are missing your bicycle, please contact the Service Desk to arrange collection. The Service Desk is located in wing CE.0 of the Gorlaeus Building.

Good to know

This parking inspection is carried out every quarter. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Service Desk.
