Thesis week Leiden

For many students, writing a thesis is a big challenge. It can be difficult to keep writing and to stay motivated. Would you like to work on your thesis with other students for a week? Would you like some extra structure in your day and in your thoughts? Are you interested in tips and workshops that will help you write a better thesis faster? Then sign up for a Thesis Week at the Writing Lab!

What is it?

During the Thesis Week, you will write your thesis together with other students for a week (from 09:00-17:00) under the supervision of the Writing Lab. You will start the day with a communal start and during the week you will follow various workshops that will help you to become a better writer.

The thesis week offers you:

- Structure to your day and your writing process
- Contact with other students working on their thesis
- Different workshops (e.g. planning, writing discipline, personal coaching and more)

For whom?

You are a third year/master/pre-master student at the Faculty of Humanities of Leiden University and have just started or are in the process of writing your thesis.

Programme

During the thesis week you will work on your thesis every day from 09:00-17:00 under the supervision of the Writing Lab at the campus in Leiden. The workshops will be given in English.

During the week, you will participate in multiple workshops, such as:

  • How to plan your thesis
  • Keep on Writing
  • Academic English
  • 'Word smart not hard'

When and where?

The next thesis week is planned in 2022-2023 from 8 to 12 May. The final dates are still to be announced.

The thesis week takes place on location in Leiden, because writing in a different environment with peers contributes greatly to the success of this week.

If working on location is not possible due to corona measures, there will be an alternative online thesis group (in the same week). In that case, the programme will deviate from the Thesis Week on location.

Registration and costs?

Participation in the Thesis Week is free for students of the Faculty of Humanities. However, we ask for a small deposit of 25 euros per person to secure the registration. After full participation in the thesis week, you will receive the full deposit back.

The registration for the Thesis Week in Leiden has not opened yet. Would you like to receive a notification when the registration for the academic year 2022-2023 opens? Leave your e-mail via this form.
