Workshop: Academic writing and GenAI
Generative AI is a hot topic: new developments happen blindingly fast and where one person embraces the tech, another strongly objects to its use. It may very well by that you already use GenAI in your course prep! In this workshop we want to move beyond this yes/no divide and think with each other about how and when to use GenAI in our academic writing process. To do so, we will also zoom out a little and tackle questions such as: what is GenAI to begin with? What can and can't these programs do? Should this software have a place within higher education? What are the pros, what are the cons? And (a crucial question) how does GenAI relate to plagiarism? Everyone interested is welcome: whether you're an experienced user, a sceptic, or just don't know how to feel about it just yet. The goal of the workshop is to have an open discussion that will help us make responsible choices concerning our use of GenAI. We will also do a bit of hands-on work, but you don't have to make use of AI yourself during the session if you're uncomfortable with that.
