Acro dance: acrobatic flow

Tuesday from 18:00-19:15 h.

Teacher
Sophie Vos

For whom
Acrobatics and Dance, in short, acro dance is for anyone who wants to challenge themselves, become stronger, and be proud of what they can learn. Did you do gymnastics in the past and miss standing on your hands? Or do you find being upside down incredibly exciting, but want to overcome your fears? Then this is the course for you.

Content
In this course, we'll explore the fusion of modern dance and floor acrobatics. We'll start with the basics: what does it feel like to transfer your body weight to your hands? From there, we'll build on that and explore the possibilities together. However, it's not just about tricks. All acrobatics are integrated into a larger whole with dance and music. This allows us to explore themes such as: How can you relax your body when a dance phrase requires specific muscle tension? How can you gently catch yourself on the floor? How do you create smooth transitions between different movements? How do you stay safe if you fall?

The course is divided into different levels, making it suitable for both beginners and more experienced dancers and acrobats.

At the end of the course, participants can participate in a final presentation in a theater, in consultation with the participants and the instructor (scheduled for May 26, 2026).

Teacher
Sophie Vos trained as a dancer, choreographer, teacher, and circus artist at Codarts University of the Arts. This has given her extensive knowledge and experience in the field of dance. She has studied various modern dance techniques, such as Laban, Graham, and Cunningham. Drawing on this experience, she uses various elements that converge in her movement language as a dancer.

Sophie works as a dancer, choreographer, and teacher in various contexts, including dance schools, training programs, and community centers. Besides dancing as her ultimate goal, she uses dance as a means to bring people together and to surpass herself.
