Content
This course is divided into 4 blocks. Each block has its own instructor with specific expertise.

The first 2 lessons (teacher: Lyda Bekker) focus on painting with acrylics. In two lessons, you will learn how to build up a painting in layers, the function of color, and which brushstrokes to create. We do this through assignments and by looking at the work of famous artists, as well as each other's work.

The second 3 lessons (teacher: Robbert Kiewiet) involve working from a 'live model' (portrait and (nude) model). We practice observing the contour lines of a model, light/shadow, the direction of lines/proportions, shapes, and negative space. We draw primarily with charcoal.

The third 5 lessons (teacher: Maurice Braspenning) involve painting. Attention is paid to basic techniques such as composition, light/dark, and perspective. We paint with acrylics using direct strokes, employing flat brushes and regular brushes.

In the last two lessons (teacher: Robbert Kiewiet), we will be drawing with charcoal. The emphasis is on observation, tonal value, and spatiality. Attention is paid to, among other things, the use of materials, building contrast, color, form, and careful observation.

The course includes use of material during the lessons.
You can buy materials for your home at Terpentijn. The first lesson receives a LAK student card that gives you a 10% discount at Terpentijn.
