Illustration basics

5 lessons on Friday from 13:15-15:15

Mathea Westerveld

For whom
This course is for anyone who wants to to learn how to illustrate. Experience with drawing or illustrating is not necessary.

The course is given in Dutch, but the teacher will explain in English individually.

In these lessons you will learn how to convert content into a powerful image. For example, you will make illustrations for a newspaper article and a self-chosen story. In addition, you make an illustrative product such as a postcard or a poster and you work on a self-chosen theme.

We will experiment with many different materials and techniques such as ink, (color) pencil, fineliner, watercolor paint, gouache / acrylic paint and collage techniques. We get out inspiration by other illustrators.

Mathea Westerveld graduated (2006) as a teacher of Visual Arts at Artez University of the Arts, Arnhem. In 2017 she founded her own company: Lieverlee- Illustrations and Creative Discovery Tours. Under this name she illustrates commissioned, and gives workshops and drawing and botanical illustrating courses. More info: www.lieverlee.com
