The vital joints: Mobility and strength of the hip joints
Friday October 31 from 14:00-18:00 h

A somatic approach in motion
For whom
For movement lovers of all levels with a curiosity to explore and embody movement.
Content
Discover the hips as a physical and energetic center in this unique workshop where somatic exercises, experiential anatomy and dance fun come together! The hip joints form a crucial hinge point between the upper and lower body and are essential for stability, mobility and balance. Softness and flexibility in these joints reduces tension and stiffness and promotes efficiency and good coordination throughout the body. Through flowing, simple movements such as rolling, crawling, balancing or walking, we explore how our relationship with the ground influences our mobility and the experience of inner carrying capacity. By moving with attention from the pelvic area - the center of strength, stability and creativity - you activate the flow of movement in your entire body and enrich your dance vocabulary. This increases the pleasure of dancing in the connection with others and with the space around us.
What to expect
- By viewing anatomical images, touch and partner work you will refine your embodied understanding (‘your physical experience’) of the structure and biomechanics of the hip joints and what they have to offer you in terms of movement possibilities.
- There is room for individual, partner and group explorations to experience and integrate the movement possibilities of the hip joints.
- The quality of movement is paramount in terms of coordination, flexibility and flow.
- At times music is used to facilitate the quality of movement.
- At the end of the day there is room for integration, so that you go home with a relaxed feeling and new energy.
