Content of the training

Do you know how to talk to a member about alcohol and substance use? Are you, for example, concerned about someone else’s use? Having this conversation can be quite difficult. Brijder’s training course will enhance your knowledge of substances and teach you to recognise and discuss the signs of (problematic) use with greater confidence. 

Through this training, you’ll learn: 

  • The stages of substance use; 
  • New insights into substance use; 
  • How to have an open and effective conversation; 
  • Practical tools to guide members towards support; 
  • What steps your club can take. 

For who?

  • Board members of student associations  
  • Key figures within student associations, i.e. members who fulfil a role for which the training is relevant. For example, confidential peer listeners, board members of sub-associations (disputen), or bar and order committee  

What can you expect?

  • To-the-point background information on mental health issues. 
  • Practical tips: learn to recognise the signs within your association. 
  • Practical exercises: discover how to initiate an open conversation. 
  • Clarity on your role and responsibilities as a board member.
