Guidance group for gifted students

Giftedness is generally spoken of as a combination of an IQ that is higher than average (usually above 130), coupled with a versatile and often creative way of thinking and working.

Perhaps you encountered challenges related to being gifted in elementary and/or high school. It's also possible that you only discovered your giftedness at university.

It is often not very easy to talk about giftedness; you may not want to bring it up yourself.

If you find that giftedness brings challenges that you would like to discuss with other gifted students, and you want to work on changing negative consequences or patterns that you are currently dealing with, then this group may be for you.Challenges can be related to things like time management, losing interest quickly, study skills, difficulty with small talk, and so on. Here is a link to a list with possible challenges: list of possible challenges.

For whom

Students who have been ‘diagnosed’ with giftedness through research, or students who are likely gifted or who recognize themselves in many characteristics of giftedness. If you're unsure, you can also schedule an appointment to discuss whether the challenges you're facing could be related to giftedness. (This consultation cannot determine whether you are gifted).

Method

Five 3-hour group sessions in five weeks. By registering, you commit to attending all five sessions, connecting with fellow participants between sessions, and working toward your goals.

Individual appointment

If you would prefer to have an individual appointment first with Simone Keijsers, please make an appointment here: appointment.

Monthly Meet and Greet

Once a month, a Meet and Greet is organized for you to meet other gifted students. The Meet and Greet sometimes consists of a short, informative program, but is mainly a pleasant way to socialize and chat with other gifted students. For more information: s.j.m.keijsers@sea.leidenuniv.nl
