The Career Service FSW supports students and recent graduates in their transition from study to first job and offers guidance in study choice and career questions in the bachelor and master. We will continue doing this in these unpredictable times and therefore we would like to invite you to our Online Career Week FSW from 2 to 5 June.

Programme

The Online Career Week is organized by the Career Service of the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences. During this week we will daily offer several online events. You can find the schedule below, all times are in CET.

Tuesday 2 June

During this webinar your own faculty Career Service will share some tips on how to draw up a CV and LinkedIn profile that recruiters love.

Sending in your CV is a very standard step in applying for an internship or job. Never the less, writing a CV always brings a lot of questions? What should be included in your CV, what are do’s and don’ts? Nowadays, your LinkedIn profile is becoming more important too.

The workshop is given by career advisor Sophie Blok, who has a background in recruitment.

Do you have the ambition to change the world for the better? Working at an NGO might just be your thing. If you want to know more about how to find an internship at an NGO and how it is to work there, join ‘Working (as an intern) at an NGO’. This event is part of the FSW Career Week and will take place on Tuesday the 2nd of June, 15.00 – 16.00.

During the event, two students will share their experiences with finding and working for an NGO (Unicef & Amnesty International). Maybe some professionals will also be joining us to give you some extra information.

Wednesday 3 June

Are you looking for extra ways to broaden your CV? Did you know that you can volunteer your way into a potential job? Volunteering is the perfect way to boost your resume, gain some new experiences, skills and to extend your network during your time at university.

Dardan Bastiaan, from i-DOE will give a presentation which will help you better understand the value of volunteering for building relationships and career opportunities, as well as for gaining this valuable ’work experience’ all employers are looking for in new graduates. He will also show you some available vacancies you can find on their vacancy platform. There is a range of possibilities in volunteer jobs available, in various sectors, for different target groups, with flexible working hours.

Presentation by (study) associations SPIL, Emile, Labyrinth and Ciros regarding the pro’s (and con’s?) of being a board or committee member. What is there to learn? What kind of experience will you gain by becoming active? What kind of skills can you develop in such a role? Why is it beneficial for your CV? All of this and more during a live Q&A.

During your study you will wonder regularly what you will do “in the future” with all the knowledge and skills gained. What kind of jobs will fit that experience? What kind of employers will be looking for me? And what do I want? And even if you know (just about) what you are looking for, it isn’t that simple to find it. Where and how to start looking?

In this webinar we will discuss how to map chances and opportunities and how this can help you make effective choices. If you already have a clear(er) perspective on what you are looking for in a job, this workshop will help you identify interesting employers as a step towards getting into contact and applying.

Thursday 4 June
