Come and join the Leiden University’s Winter Weeks in both Leiden and The Hague, hosted to kickstart the festive holiday season! Between 19 December and 9 January, there are lots of different fun activities you can take part in for free. You and your fellow students can join in the activities or just get together to enjoy some delicious food (we see you, Foodies!). There’s plenty to choose from: a pub quiz, skating, winter walks, creative workshops, an escape room, Christmas lunch, and an ‘oliebol’ (yes, those scrumptious Dutch-type donuts) walk on New Year’s Eve. There are fun activities for you to do almost every day!
Ice skating
22 December, 14.30-17.00 hrs, Uithof Den Haag, Jaap Edenweg 10, 2544NL Den Haag
Kick off this winter by going ice skating at De Uithof. Now that it gets colder, staying active is especially important to counter all the cozy time spent inside. And ice skating is the perfect fun holiday activity to do just that! Whether you are a pro who has been ice skating since you could walk, or it’s your first time on the ice – grab your friends, roommates or take yourself out, make your way to De Uithof and embrace the cold to enjoy what winter has to offer.
Get in for free between 14.30 and 15.00 hrs. There is also a possibility to rent your ice skates here. So, make a note in your calendar!

Get together Christmas lunch
25 December, starts around 13.00 hrs
On Christmas Day you are more than welcome to enjoy a nice Christmas lunch together with other students. We form groups and together with L.V.V.S. Augustinus and L.S.V. Minerva you’ll get lunch boxes. Bring on the Christmas feeling and let’s get together this afternoon!

26 December, starts around 13.00 hrs
On the second day of Christmas you are more than welcome to enjoy a nice Christmas lunch @home together with other students. We will form groups of 4-5 students and together you will get a lunch box , organized by L.V.V.S. Augustinus and L.S.V.. Bring on the Christmas feeling and let’s celebrate!
If you have dietary requests, please let us know on the registration form.
Game night
27 December, in the evening
Let’s play! Whether you like board games, games with dices or cards, puzzles or videogames… There are more students out there that also enjoy playing this kind of games. Meet up in pairs of 3 and have a nice evening while enjoying drinks, snacks & of course your favorite game!
You can specify on the form which kind of games you prefer, so you’ll be matched with students with the same preferences!
Online pubquiz
28 December, 20.00 - 22.00, Online
Sign up for this pub quiz where you can enjoy the cosy atmosphere online, from your own couch. Compete in groups on various topics such as films, winter, sports, music, the city and much more... Join us on the 28th at 8 pm and who knows, you might have all the answers!
DIY: geometric wall art
29 December,14.00-17.00
Gather around and release your creativity with wooden sticks. Geometric wall art is very popular. Did you know it’s also very easy to make your own art form? The only homework is to choose one of the five templates. You are guaranteed to go home afterwards with a beautiful wooden work of art for on your wall.
You will be placed in a group and meet each other at someone’s home. We’ll take care of the supplies.
Movie break
30 December, in the afternoon or evening
Are you in for a well-deserved movie night in your holiday? We would like to offer you that! Watch a film together with other students while enjoying some drinks and snacks. Time to relax and enjoy a social get-together!
We form groups and each group gets a snack-box and a Pathé home voucher to pick a movie of your choice. You can subscribe to watch a movie in the afternoon (around 14h) or in the evening (around 20h).
Winter Walk – oliebollen wandeling
31 December, 14.00 - 16.00 hrs, Leiden. Hosted by L.V.V.S. Augustinus
During the Winter Walk, or ‘oliebollen wandeling’, you can enjoy a snack and a hot drink while exploring the city centre of Leiden. The winter is not complete without a good winter walk, so be sure to join us! During the Winter Walk, we form groups of two, will stop at L.V.V.S. Augustus for the most important thing of the day: the oliebollen. Make the most of the last day of 2021 and join this walk!
Winter walk – Happy New Year!
1 January, 14.00 – 16.00 hrs , The Hague
Happy New Year! What better way to start the year than with a winter walk? During this walk, we will walk through the city centre of The Hague. You might discover some things you have never seen before. You can think about some New Year resolutions and chat with your fellow students (different groups of 2 persons) about what this year will have in store for us.

in order to complete the mission. Will you be able to solve the mystery in time? This evening's escape room is one of the better online games. Don't miss out!

5 January, pick up between 17.00-18.00 at SSR-Leiden (Hogewoerd 108, 2311HT in Leiden)
Register if you’re up for a nice (& free) dinner with fellow students. Due to the covid-measures, we form small groups and have a cozy evening at someone’s place. One of your groupmembers picks up the dinnerbox: a true feast is prepared by SSR-Leiden. So, make a note in your calendar and we hope to see you 5 January with an empty stomach!
DIY: canvas painting
6 January, 14.00-17.00 hrs. Hosted by A.L.S.V. Quintus
After this event you are guaranteed to head home with a self-made painting. We form different groups, meet at someone’s home and get started. Experience or talent are not necessary. You get an instruction to make your own beautiful canvas painting. You choose a print you like in advance and together with A.L.S.V. Quintus you receive everything you need to make it work.
We are looking forward to seeing you with a brush in one hand and a hot drink in the other, ready to unleash your creativity!
