Room

The invasion of Ukraine by Russia has undoubtedly had a deep impact on our students and staff, in particular those with a personal connection to the region. The university and Faculty of Humanities, together with the Universities of the Netherlands condemn the invasion and are committed to offer necessary support to students and staff affected by these events. We would therefore like to invite students and staff who are personally affected by the war in Ukraine to join a meeting on Thursday 3 March at 17:15 in Leiden (Lipsius 1.23) where they can share concerns and questions with Aurelie van ’t Slot and other representatives of the faculty and the Diversity Officer of the University, Aya Ezawa. Our primary focus will be the well-being and support of students who are personally affected. We have received several concerning signals and would like to provide a forum, community, and support in these difficult times.

We are also aware that for students with a personal connection to Russia, this is a complex situation to deal with. On Wednesday 9 March at 17:15 (location in Leiden to be announced), there will be an opportunity for students personally affected to share their concerns with representatives of the faculty and the Diversity Officer.

If you are interested in joining, please send a brief email to diversiteit@leidenuniv.nl indicating which meeting you would like to join.

Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns in the meantime.
