On November 1, 2022 well-known critic Michel Krielaars (NRC) will conduct a public interview with Russian writer Maxim Osipov, guest lecturer at Leiden University during the academic year 2022-2023. Apart from reflecting on his own work and his position as a Russian writer forced to live and work outside of his home country, Maxim Osipov will read (excerpts) from his stories which will be simultaneously projected in English translation. At the end of the meeting he will also take questions from the audience.

Maxim Osipov (Moscow, 1963) is a Russian writer and a cardiologist by training. He is the author of numerous short-stories which have been published to general critical acclaim in Russia, the USA and Europe. Two collections of stories have appeared in Dutch so far: De wereld is niet stuk te krijgen and Kilometer 101 (Van Oorschot).

Michel Krielaars (Amsterdam, 1961) is a Dutch historian, Russia specialist and literary critic. He is the author of Het brilletje van Tsjechov (2014) en De klank van de heilstaat. Musici in de tijd van Stalin (2021).
