On the 8th of June 2023, several associations are organizing the annual Leiden Humanities Faculty Symposium.

This year’s theme is ”Evolution of Media” and several experts  from different specializations will come together to discuss the topic. The speakers are:

  1. Maretta Johnson: an historian and literary scholar specialised in Early Modernity. Her fields of interest are prints and drawings: the intermediality between text and image and their political aspects in particular. She is especially specialized in 17th century broadsheets.
  2. Dr. Jing Zeng: an Assistant Professor of Digital Methods and Critical Data Studies at Utrecht University. Her research concerns the sociocultural implications of digital technologies, with a particular focus on developing innovative digital methods for empirical research.
  3. Dr. Carwyn Morris: Leiden University Lecturer (Assistant Professor) of Digital China. Dr. Morris' research interests include migration, mobility, governance, territory, zines, and wanghong (internet fame). He explores all of these topics as hybrid phenomena that take place across 'digital' and 'physical' spaces.

Join this exciting day full of lectures and discussions where you can gain more insight into the world of media!

Moreover, we will finish the eventful day with some drinks, where you can meet each other in a more informal setting.
