How did dialectologists collect data back in the days? What kind of data did they collect? What kind of data is suitable for a comparison of hundreds of dialects? In this workshop, we will first gain some hands-on experience by doing mock fieldwork, then our guest speaker (Dr. Kate Bellamy) will tell us more about doing fieldwork on an understudied language in Mexico.
