About the event

Wangpo Tethong will join us for this lecture and Q&A session, which will serve as a broad introduction to Tibet's past and present.

After a short introduction by Casper Wits, the lecture will focus on a variety of topics, such as:

  • The Tibetan Nation and its history 
  • The nature of Chinese rule and Tibet's position under international law
  • Climate change and the environment in Tibet
  • Tibetan advocacy work
  • The position of the Dalai Lama and his future
  • The geopolitical significance of Tibet's place in Inner Asia in the 21st century

About the speaker

Wangpo Tethong is the Executive Director of the International Campaign for Tibet (ICT): Europe. He is also a member of the Tibetan Parliament in Exile. In addition to his decades-long experience in Tibetan advocacy, he has worked in Switzerland as party secretary of the Green Party for the Canton of Zurich,  and as a spokesperson for Greenpeace Switzerland.
