Shape Europe - shape the future!

On June 6th, the Netherlands will go to the polls to vote for the new European Parliament. The importance of the European elections is significant due to pressing issues surrounding geopolitics, climate, migration, increasing inequality, and European values, as well as the role of education and science.

On Wednesday, May 22nd, students and candidate Members of the European Parliament will debate based on statements about these themes. What direction should the EU take? Will you be there?

The following candidates will debate with the students:

  • Ronald de Bruin (NSC no. 5)
  • Raquel Garcia Hermida-van der Walle (D66 no. 2)
  • Michiel Hoogeveen (JA21 no. 1)
  • Aletten van Kralingen (Christian Union no. 3)
  • Ingeborg ter Laak (CDA no. 2)
  • Reinier van Lanschot (Volt no. 1)

The debate will be in Dutch, but questions can also be asked in English.

This dynamic European debate is organized by Leiden University and The Hague University of Applied Sciences. Both educational institutions have long been involved in European issues. This is reflected, among other things, in the European Impact of The Hague University of Applied Sciences and the Europe Hub of Leiden University.
